Senior Demand Planning Manager

Salary upon application Hürth, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany

As Senior Demand Planning Manager, you’ll take ownership of operational and tactical demand planning, ensuring forecasts are translated into accurate inventory, replenishment and supply plans. Working closely with the Head of Forecasting, you’ll ensure plans are practical, executable and aligned across the wider supply chain.

You’ll lead a team, collaborate with key stakeholders across the business, and play a pivotal role in maintaining product availability while driving continuous improvements in planning processes.

Key Responsibilities

Demand Planning

  • Own the end-to-end operational and tactical demand planning process, translating forecasts into actionable supply plans.
  • Ensure high product availability while maintaining healthy inventory levels and efficient replenishment.
  • Develop, maintain and validate demand, inventory and ordering plans.
  • Monitor stock levels, safety stock, lead times and sales performance to optimise inventory.
  • Identify potential risks including stock shortages, excess inventory and supply constraints, taking proactive action to mitigate issues.

Purchasing & Supplier Coordination

  • Work closely with Procurement and suppliers to coordinate purchase orders, order quantities and delivery schedules.
  • Monitor supplier performance, production status and delivery timelines.
  • Escalate supply risks early and help ensure a reliable flow of goods throughout the supply chain.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with the Head of Forecasting, providing operational insight and feedback to improve forecast accuracy.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Customer Success, Logistics, Production and Procurement to align planning activities.
  • Translate strategic forecasts into practical operational plans that support business objectives.

Systems & Continuous Improvement

  • Use and continuously improve demand planning and ERP systems (such as SAP, Streamline or similar).
  • Identify opportunities to improve demand planning, replenishment and purchasing processes.
  • Support scenario planning, data analysis and wider supply chain optimisation projects.

About You

You’ll bring:

  • A degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Several years’ experience within Demand Planning, Supply Chain, Purchasing or a similar planning environment.
  • Previous experience leading or mentoring a team, either through direct or functional management.
  • Strong analytical skills with excellent numerical ability and attention to detail.
  • A structured, organised approach with the ability to balance strategic thinking and operational execution.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build strong cross-functional relationships.
  • Experience using ERP and demand planning systems such as SAP, Streamline or similar.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with a strong focus on delivering results.
  • Fluent English is essential. German language skills are highly desirable.
