Position: Head Of HR
Location: London – Hybrid 3-4 days/week in the office
Package: £60K/yr – £80K/yr
We’re currently recruiting for a Head of HR with an exciting, high growth food manufacturer. Reporting into the founder this is a stand alone role and will be a key hire to help the business go through a significant period of growth.
Key Responsibilities
HR Strategy & Foundations
- Design and implement the company’s first HR framework, policies, and procedures, ensuring compliance with UK employment law
- Establish core HR processes including onboarding, performance management, absence management, disciplinaries, and grievances
- Act as a trusted advisor to the leadership team on all people-related matters
Employee Relations & Operations
- Provide day-to-day HR support to managers and employees across head office and manufacturing
- Lead and manage employee relations cases, including absence, performance, disciplinary, and grievance matters
- Support managers in building confident, consistent people management capability
Recruitment & Workforce Planning
- Own end-to-end recruitment for all roles, from factory-floor hires to head office positions
- Develop structured hiring processes that support business growth and values-based recruitment
- Support workforce planning for the manufacturing operation, including shift patterns and headcount planning
Learning, Development & Culture
- Support the development of managers through coaching, training, and practical HR guidance
- Help shape and embed company culture, values, and ways of working
- Introduce engagement initiatives and support internal communications
HR Systems & Data
- Own payroll end-to-end
- Strong experience with ADP preferred
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR data
- Produce people metrics and insights to support business decision-making
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Work closely with operations to support people-related health and safety compliance
- Ensure HR practices align with food manufacturing and operational requirements
Person Specification
Experience
- Proven experience in a standalone or early-stage HR role, ideally within manufacturing, FMCG, or operational environments
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law and hands-on employee relations experience
- Experience setting up HR processes, policies, and systems from scratch
Skills & Attributes
- Practical, hands-on, and comfortable “rolling sleeves up”
- Confident working across both office and shop-floor environments
- Commercially minded with the ability to balance people needs and business priorities
- Approachable, pragmatic, and able to build trust quickly
- Organised, resilient, and comfortable with ambiguity in a growing business
