Research and Development Lead
Location: Amsterdam
We’re currently recruiting for a Research and Development Lead to join an innovative start up who are bringing cutting edge health food/drinks to market. You’ll be responsible for driving technological advancements, ensuring quality and compliance, and optimising manufacturing processes to deliver high quality and innovative products.
R&D Lead responsibilities:
Research and Development:
• Lead R&D efforts for new ingredients and manufacturing processes.
• Collaborate with internal and external experts to drive innovation and explore cutting edge technologies.
• Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies.
Experimental Planning and Execution:
• Designing and executing laboratory and pilot scale experiments to validate manufacturing processes. Developing experimental protocols, ensuring strict adherence to safety and quality standards.
• Coordinating testing activities within the organisation’s facilities and potentially at external facilities.
• Analysing experimental data and provide valuable insights to guide process optimisation and improvements.
Technology Transfer and Scaling-up:
• Leading technology transfer activities from R&D to commercial production.
• Collaborating with cross functional teams to develop scaling up strategies and designing new processes for large scale manufacturing.
• Ensuring successful knowledge transfer and effective implementation of new processes and technologies
Quality and Food Safety Management:
• Ensuring compliance with quality management systems and relevant food safety regulations.
• Continuously improving the quality management system through monitoring and corrective actions.
• Evaluating suppliers’ quality systems and establish quality agreements.
• Promoting benchmarking activities and driving continuous improvement.
Stakeholder Engagement and Communication:
• Managing 3rd party manufacturers, liaising with them for scale up processes, raw materials, and planning new launch roadmaps.
• Collaborating with internal stakeholders, such as R&D, operations, contract manufacturers, and commercial teams, to align quality and technology initiatives.
• Representing the organisation in interactions with regulatory agencies, industry associations, and customers regarding quality and technology matters.
