Position: Head of Sales (Drinks)

Location: This role is London based (3 days per week)

Package: £70K/yr – £80K/yr  Hybrid

Our client makes unique, premium, alcohol free drinks and they has been experiencing rapid sales and brand awareness growth via their online Direct to Consumer (DTC) channel. They are now poised for expansion and are seeking a dynamic individual to lead their sales efforts in the UK independent retail and grocery.

As the Sales Lead, you will spearhead the new business development strategy in the retail, grocery and on-trade sector across the UK (on-trade experience is not essential as a third party agency is used in this channel). Your primary responsibility will be to drive business growth by securing new listings with key retailers and maximising sales opportunities. We are seeking a results-driven individual with a proven track record in winning listings with UK retailers, particularly in the grocery sector, such as Ocado, Waitrose, or Sainsbury’s. Experience in selling premium food or drink products is essential to excel in this role.


  • Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy to penetrate the retail, grocery and on-trade sector, targeting key accounts and regions across the UK.
  • Identify and prioritize potential retail partners, including major grocery chains, specialty stores, and online platforms, to secure new listings.
  • Build and nurture strong relationships with retail buyers, negotiating terms and agreements to ensure optimal product placement, visibility, and promotional opportunities.
  • Collaborate closely with marketing and product development teams to align sales efforts with brand positioning, messaging, and product innovation.
  • Analyse market trends, consumer insights, and competitor activity to identify opportunities for growth, differentiation, and strategic positioning.
  • Monitor sales performance, track KPIs, and generate regular reports to evaluate progress, identify areas for improvement, and inform strategic decision-making.
  • In time, you will recruit, lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing sales team, providing guidance, support, and training to drive individual and collective success.
  • Adopting brand strategy to support the development of the sales strategy.

About You:

  • Proven experience in sales within the food and beverage industry, with a focus on winning listings with UK retail, both independent and grocery.
  • Demonstrated success in driving revenue growth, expanding market share, and achieving sales targets in a competitive environment.
  • Strong negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including retail buyers and distributors.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to articulate the value proposition of products and influence purchasing decisions.
  • Strategic thinker with a data-driven approach to sales planning, execution, and performance analysis.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, with the agility to adapt to changing market dynamics and seize emerging opportunities.
  • Flavour obsessed, with a deep passion for food & drink, and the ability to channel that into the job.
  • Full UK driving license
