Position: Senior Food Safety Manager

Location: Central London (Hybrid role, with regular international travel)

Package: £55 000 to £65 000

Looking to step into a highly visible food safety leadership role within a growing, international business? This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced technical professional to play a key role in safeguarding product quality, integrity, and compliance across a complex supply chain.

The Role

Reporting into the Technical Controller, you’ll be responsible for ensuring food safety, quality, legality, and authenticity standards are upheld across the business and its supplier network. You will play a central role in embedding a strong food safety culture, while ensuring systems, audits, and processes are executed consistently and to the highest standard.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating and conducting food safety audits against company standards, working closely with suppliers to drive compliance
  • Supporting the maintenance and continuous improvement of the food safety & quality management system, ensuring AA Grade BRC A&B certification
  • Developing and owning the food safety and authenticity surveillance program, identifying and mitigating risk
  • Supporting category teams with out-of-specification results, including root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventative actions
  • Contributing to incident management, including reactive supplier visits and technical improvement planning
  • Leading strategic technical workstreams to enhance product safety, quality, and regulatory compliance
  • Driving awareness and continuous improvement of food safety culture across internal teams and the wider supply base

Does this describe you

  • Degree-qualified in Food Science or a related discipline
  • At least 8 years’ experience in food safety, auditing, or technical roles
  • Strong internal and external audit experience, with a deep understanding of GFSI standards
  • Excellent knowledge of food safety, microbiology, and regulatory requirements
  • Experience working across multiple food categories and international supply chains
  • Willingness to travel internationally on a regular basis
  • Strong attention to detail, balanced with a strategic mindset
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence suppliers and internal teams
